Well we finally got power back after 2 and 1/2 days with no power...had to throw out the food in both the fridge and freezer...since we were without power I made arrangements to go to Alexandria VA to visit USAFA friends. It was really great and got to see what my future holds when play dates occur with lots of little kids running around.
Matthew starts his 1/2 days of daycare tomorrow so we drove back this afternoon so we could get laundry done and things situated for tomorrow's new adventure. I plan to use day-care time tomorrow to get the apartment cleaned and groceries restocked. Classes start on-line for me on Monday so I need to also check all my classes to ensure they are ready to go. Also need to pack for the quick trip to Louisiana. Its only 3 full days and 3 nights but if this weekend has taught me anything I have to pack a few extra undergarments shirts b/c while at Jenn and Stina's I got pee'd on twice so there went 2 shirts and pucked on so that was shirt number 3. Yeah, Matthew is not a spitter-upper so it took me by surprise when this lunch came back up...then it happened again later this evening once we got home to Richmond...so far the evening bottle has not come back up but i did supplement with peas baby food. He likes peas so luckily he took them ok, he just gets distracted easily and frustrated that he can't play with the spoon.
As for our parenting challenge with sleep, it was much better last night so hopefully a repeat and a shift is on the horizon.

Hurricane Irene
So it has been an ok Saturday so far despite the hurricane. Last night wasn't too terrible, Matthew got to sleep around 930pm and while he fussed and kinda woke up around 2 he managed to make it to 3am before I had to change his diaper and comfort him...then he made it to 5am before food was the only appeasement so not a bad night...maybe we are breaking the feed me every 2-3 hrs which would be a huge success.
As for his 6 month check-up, he weighed in at 16lb 8 oz and 27inches. So he is definitely on his way out of his 6-9month clothes that are for 12.5-16.5lbs and 24-27inches...so today I went through and started to pull out the 9-12 month stuff organize the 6-9 month so the things that are short/small will get used before I pack them away...can't believe that he is almost out of the 6 month clothes already...(well almost already)...so probably 4-5 weeks (basically another growth spurt) we will be in 9 month+ clothing.
Jay had to go into work b/c he is on-call...his resident got pulled over on the way to work...kinda surprising that police are out in this weather...but I guess they are trying to keep people off the road...she was able to talk her way out of a speeding ticket b/c she showed her medical id's....kinda funny...almost getting a speeding ticket during a hurricane...hopefully everyone will be ok at the hospital and Jay will not have to go back out in this weather.
The worse of the storm is due in a few hours and from the text's and facebook updates from all our friends back in Greenville NC it sounds like it is pretty windy and the tree's are falling...hopefully we can get someone to check on our duplex and hopefully it is faring well...it better, we have a potential sale going through on Sept 12th...
ok, gotta go keep our crawling Matthew out things...have a great hurricane party...I am about to pop open the wine.

Matthew's First Earthquake
Well, since I have only felt "real" earthquakes in Japan and it is a very rare occurrence for the East Coast I thought I better document it in the blog. So yesterday, August 23rd around 1:51pm as Matthew took his afternoon long nap the rocker started rocking and Queenie started freaking out...so of course I immediately think what idiot just hit our building with a moving truck...b/c that is a logical thought to why the building is shaking...then a few seconds pass and still shaking and I go oh wow, an earthquake...so I go to get Matthew as I am not sure if this will wake him up, continue and cause us to have to make a mad dash down 3 flights of stairs to escape the building...luckily the shaking stops and like a champ Matthew sleeps through the whole event. Queenie is another story, this totally freaks her out and she sticks to me like glue the rest of the day.
It took an hour for the phone lines to free up so I missed Jays calls, texts and whoever else tried to call me...also didn't get on the Internet for a bit so missed Jay's e-mail...poor hubby, I think he was worried and we were fine...when I finally got him he sounded relieved.
So of course I am thinking, if Jay is this worried I better call my parents and let them know we are ok...it is about 3pm east coast time so I know my mom is still in class and going to not answer her phone so I call and leave a message. I call my dad's office, immediately to voice-mail, his cell, also immediately to voice-mail...so oh well, I guess they are not that worried about us.
Other than that, not much going on. We are really working on getting Matthew to sleep...so 2 nights and he has made it all night in the crib...he wakes up around 1230 and Jay the past 2 nights has worked on getting him to cry it out, for a bit, then feed and pat the bottom until Matthew falls back asleep. I took the 3am wake-up and I initially let him cry it out, which at 30 minutes I figure better see whats up...so changed him and he settles down and wants to fall asleep so I try to get him to go back to sleep, of course the minute I lay him in the crib he starts crying again, so I give him the bottom and rock him and he falls asleep...he only takes about an ounce or so probably to sooth his throat after all the screaming/crying but success, at 420 I get him to sleep again in the crib...of course he is back up at 611am but since that is about time for Jay to wake up and Queenie to start barking it might as well be time for us to get up...
So baby steps, we are at least getting him to sleep in the crib, the crying it out is not working but at least we are giving him 30 minutes b/f we resort to picking him up and feeding him..so maybe it will all click and get better in the next few weeks.
Hurricane Irene is heading our way but looks like the "eye" will stay off the coast so that might mean less winds and less damage...It just sucks b/c of course Jay is on-call so my only day to bike or run is Sunday morning and that is when the major rain and wind is expected...oh well. Guess the gym will have to do.
I got water, some pork n beans, tuna kits, baby-food, and batteries for the flashlights so I think we are ready to weather the storm. Keep your fingers crossed that we don't have another natural disaster heading our way.

My first Tri since April 2010
So back in April 2010 I did Beaverdam in Raleigh and competed for the first time in the Athena category b/c I was over 150lbs...yep, I refuse to race against 125lbs gals b/c the extra 25-30lbs I carry over these girls is a real disadvantage on both the bike and the run...I am still in the 160s...just right at 160-162lbs so yeah still 10-15lbs over where I would like to be and still not going to race against all the skinny girls...
So Yesterday I did my first tri since April 2010, it was fun, I signed up about 3 weeks ago so yeah I just started swimming again and running...the 5km yesterday was the first 5km I actually ran the whole thing b/c I have been taken walk-breaks around the 2 mile point...
So I won the Athena category (Yeah) but here is the kicker, I decided not to wear a watch so I would not worry about my time and get caught up in how I am doing, my pace etc...plus we are wearing chips so I figure I can see how I did later when the post the findings....so today I checked online, b/c I didn't even know my finish time, I did the 400m swim, 11 mile bike, and 5km in 1:16:13. So I see that and I am super excited...but here is the crushing part, I am one of the 1/3 of races that the chip didn't work...ugh...so I have no idea other than I did the swim in just shy of 8 min...7:54...ugh...I just wanted to see my run time...I kinda know my bike time is about 36 minutes b/c I had my bike computer on but didn't reset it so I know I did about 36 minutes...so if I calculate 38 (with transition) and 8=46 so that means I did the run in ~30 minutes...
Still hate that I don't have something official but oh well, guessing will have to do.
So on Matthew, I think we are regressing on the sleeping, he was sleeping better at 3 months than right now...we are up every 1.5-2hrs...it totally sucks...he wants to eat or snuggle, he will not sleep in the crib, if he sleeps with me he stays still for about an hour then starts kicking me, so yeah I am basically sleeping less than when Matthew was just born...ugh...luckily now that I am not breastfeeding I can basically drink Caffeine all day.
Ok, the little monster is up so gotta go.

Childhood Songs I downloaded for Matthew
So I have been singing crazy songs I remember from my childhood and Jay and I are laughing half the time b/c these songs are either silly as all hell, made-up probably from my grandfather and probably not real songs, or songs I don't remember all the words so I make up lyrics...so thought I would share the playlist I put together for Matthew...so you can laugh, steal, reminesce, whatever...
So the first song I have been singing usually when Matthew is in the nude before and after a bath/shower is "My toot-toot." Only a true Southern Louisiana person would recognize this Classic by Rocking Sydney...It has a very french/Zydeco feel and a token french word thrown in...I use to have the Record and play this over and over again...Mamere (My dad's mother, cajun for grandmother) use to have it on cassette and would play it for us grandkids as she drove us around big Ville Platte...Jay cracks up when I sing it and it just fits for singing when Matthew is in his "birthday suit"
So my dad loved Hank Williams Sr. and had this cassette that we listened to on all sorts of family vacations...so of course I know lots of Hank songs by heart...but 2 make the playlist...first is "Jambayala" b/c of mention of "the Fontenot's" and since Matthew is 1/2 Fontenot, he has to learn a song that mentions the name...second is "Hey Good Lookin" b/c I just love this song...almost put the song about the Wooden Indian but decided that 2 Hank songs is probably a good start....
Now the next is another good song for in the bath-tub and reminds me of 2 dance recitals with Mrs. Sharon's School of Dance, it is Bobby Darin's "Splish Splash." Like I mentioned, I did 2 dance recitals to this song and part of the dance experience at Mrs. Sharon's dance academy was to sing songs...almost put the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini which was another dance song but decided too many dance songs might lead to me dancing around...
Ok, so my grandparents on the Fontenot side grew up speaking Cajun French, so thought I should put on a classic french song so Frere Jacque is on there which was somewhat tough to find a singing version b/c it appears to be a very popular piano and instrumental song on many lullaby albums, but I found one that will do.
The next is for my Grandparents on my Mother's side, the Dimiterchiks...Grandma and Granddad lived in Gretna which was the West Bank of NOLA and every year we would go spend time over the summer with them and they always took us to the Audubon Zoo, which is really my favorite zoo prior to Katrina...not sure if it still an awesome zoo but one day I will take Matthew there...it was here I saw those white alligators from little hachtlings all through their growth to full adulthood...wonder if any survived the Katrina debacle and still reside in the zoo??? So this song is also classic NOLA...."Audubon Zoo." Now I only found 3 versions and 2 were live recordings...while they don't quite sing and go like Jay and I both remember, we chose one to give Matthew the "ax for you" experience.
Jay's request was for Kasey and the Sunshine band's "Boogie Shoes"...this song reminds me of cotton picker days (which was a singing group I was apart of in HS associated with the Ville Platte Cotton Festival, no I didn't actually pick cotton) which will do since the "boll weevil" song that I learned as a cotton picker is not recorded...Just like Brittany, Chadwick, and Victoria Soileau who I use to babysit loved this song, Matthew also seems to like it alot...
Another song that is an ode to my dad and his cassette tape collections is "Yackety Yak" mainly for that line "don't talk back" b/c I want to start Matthew early on the proper way to behave is to not talk back to his mother :0
Now some other odd songs are from O'Brother soundtrack: Don't leave nothing but the baby (The go to sleep little baby song)...for some reason Jay and I have been singing this song to Matthew since day one to get him to go to sleep...doesn't really work but it is soothing and allows for us to easily say "got to sleep little Matthew" or "Go to sleep baby Matthew."
Another song I put on there was of course "Somewhere over the Rainbow" both the Judy Garland one from the Wizard of Oz soundtrack and the Hawaiian version by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole which I absolutely love and it includes "What a wonderful world" mixed in there.
Of course some Mary Poppins songs: "Feed the Birds" and "Stay Awake" b/c I just love Mary Poppins and Julie Andrews
So of course we will add more as we go but that is the start to a Matthew playlist...I am open to suggestions so feel free to leave me some in the FB comments or the blogger comments.
In other news, I have a tri tomorrow...just excited to be racing again and the fun of doing something...
Also, we got an offer on the G-vegas duplex that we accepted so keep your fingers crossed that Sept 12th gets here and it all does through....looks like 2 trips to G-vegas in our future, the weekend of Sept 10th-11th to start clearing out the stuff still left in our duplex and the following weekend for more clearing out stuff and Lake Kristi TriGreenville Sept 17th

Crazy Article
So I get these e-mails from 2-3 sites that give me ideas on gifts, games, toys and milestones that Matthew should be achieving. These websites also link to blogs and forums where moms brag about how they kid is sleeping through the night, reading and writing at 6 months, you know telling the world how "special" they and their child are...and there are links to other articles...usually how to get your kid to sleep all night, how to start solid food, how you should expose your child to many languages, etc...some of this stuff actually quite good...and some not so good b/c it makes you feel like a horrible parent and a below average child....
So Matthew just hit 6 months, so of course I see the e-mail form one of the sites and all the articles and suggested items are about how to get ready and plan the perfect 1st birthday....I am really I need to plan 6 months in advance for a party that the kid will no remember?? I mean, really, I need to plan some elaborate party? If you know me, then right off the bat you know this is so not gonna happen...again, an example of how this site can make you feel that you are "found wanting"
Ok, so next article link is something about the 10 gift ideas for the 1st birthday...so first thing on the list was blocks...totally agree, blocks with numbers and letters in different colors hits all sorts of developmental things..and if I remember I loved to build with blocks so you get added bonus to build crazy structures.
Next things was push toys...ok, by 1 yr I guess kids are walking or learning to walk and with the old school walkers that I grew up with I guess push toys are a viable alternative...plus some push toys eventually become toys to be ridden when the kid gets a bit older...ok, so far I like the 2 top ideas
Noisy toys...oh boy, this person writing this article must not have children...I get why parents hate really noisy toys...or toys with songs...b/c after hearing the silly songs 1000 times you think you are losing your mind...and I totally get why Aunts and Uncles totally give these gifts...usually as payback...I am finding that Matt can make plenty of noise on his own and really doesn't need toys that are noise-makers...and if you give a toy that is a noise-maker, make sure it has a an on/off switch b/c otherwise I can guarantee that toy will be taken away and limited in access to the child...
Now at this point I have to skim the rest of the article b/c Matthew is now (with noise) demanding attention...so the last thing that caught my eye was Plates, cups and feeding supplies (totally agree, especially if you have kids and can give some great travel plates...plus you know what type of sippy cups are really no-spill) and books...which my mother I am sure will be glad to see...but in order to make sure we don't get repeat books, I guess I need to put the list of what we have on a blog in about 5 months (b/c again, not going to plan his party until probably a week or 2 beforehand).
Ok, so thats about all for my venting...as for Matthew...rough night...but we are working on the sleep in the crib...and the 1 feeding...yep, i am beginning to impose some rules to how I approach his sleep...so at 9pm he fell asleep...at 1030 he woke up, Jay patted his back and made soothing sounds and eventually 15 or so minutes, Matthew fell back asleep...that lasted to about midnight...and I was able to get the pacifier in and some patting...he made it about 30 minutes...from 1230 to 1256...it was miserable..just as I am thinking that he is about to calm down...and he is kicking and thrashing in his crib this entire time and refusing the pacifier...he starts up again with more kicking and thrashing...so I gave in at 1, feed him and then worked on getting him to sleep...thought about 1:10 he was out and I could put him back in his crib...oh so not happening...he woke up the minute I set him down and started screaming...so tried patting, soothing yep all those things the sites tell you...not picking him up...even just let him scream and went to bed...by 130am...i hear him bump his head b/c he is trying to I guess break his crib with his head...so i pick him up and immediately he settles down...by this point I give up, I lay down and let Matt snuggle with me and he is out...then 4am hits and we are up again...what is it??? I try to rock, re-position...pacifier...nothing is working so I give in and give me a bottle...he immediately settles down...now I take it away after he gets about an ounce and he once again settles down...
So the victories...made it to 1230 before the "monster" came out...
Not so good, I gave in and encouraged again the sleeping with me...yep one day I will overcome but after an hour I was spent...
Oh and new trick...as I am typing this and Matthew is on the floor...he is trying to bit my toes...yep, he is crawling over to my feet and biting me...which wouldn't be so bad but now with those 2 bottom teeth it isn't so pleasant...
Well, hopefully tonight Jay will have a better night...

August 17th, hump day.
Jay took last night with Matthew and I got 8 hrs of uninterrupted sleep...I slept so hard and woke up sore...its amazing how my body has not had the opportunity to recover and heal and a few hours of sleep starts that process...Poor hubby, the pollen has given him a migraine so take that and 2hr or so wake-up with Matthew and he is probably having a rough day...oh well...it was just one night so he can catch up tonight right?
So not much to really report...now that Matthew has somewhat figured out the crawling thing he is trying to stand which has led us to a few falls forward and backwards on the head...luckily this is mostly taking place on mommy, on the boppy pillow and on a blanket over carpet. It is just amazing that he wants to start pushing up to standing already.
As for me, I am officially at 160lbs...so yeah, almost out of the 160s..its only been 3 months but the food diary and the working out has really helped to keep me honest and aware of all the snacking and the excess calories. Just 10 more lbs to go to my goal and pre-pregnancy weight so not bad. 4lbs in 2 weeks is not bad.
I have a tri on Sunday so going to relax a bit on the calorie restrictions so I can ensure I have enough fuel for my race...so instead of sticking under 2000kcal a day going to let myself hit 2000-2200.
While I am indulging in calories...maybe going to have to get Jay to take me out to dinner a night or two...we tried a local Italian Place that was really good...we just had pizza but they had all sorts of stuff on the menu that I totally wanted to try so maybe tonight or tomorrow I can get Jay to take me?? Again, all depends on his headache...the pollen and mold I guess has been bad the past few days...plus the smoke from south of us as well.
Ok, Matthew is sleeping, gotta get some last minute work on my on-line classes...I have a checklist due Saturday so gotta check weblinks to make sure the classroom is ready to go.

August 14th 6 Months since Valentine's day
I can't believe it has been 6 months already. I am 46lbs lighter but still not quite where I want to be, another 11 lbs and I will pleased, another 16 lbs and I will be ecstatic.
So I wanted to just do some pictures to show how big Matthew has gotten in 6 months...here are some from the first week and month:
These 3 pictures are from the first month, by the end of the first month, Matthew is smiling and beginning to show some signs of personality.
Here is 4 months and Matthew is getting bigger and more expressive...can't believe this was just 2 months ago.
By this time, 5 months Matthew is getting the hang of sitting up on his own and starting to figure out how to crawl.
Here is Matthew at 6 months, he an sit, crawl, and is working on standing. Still only rolls to the left, likes to play in his Johnny Jump-jump and on the floor with lots of toys...but I think his favorite toy is his Mom and Dad, he wants to crawl all over us. He likes to grab our hair, ear-rings, jewelry, basically whatever he can get his hands around. He likes to pat and touch our faces, especially our mouths. It is really fun to watch him explore. His favorite color appears to be red, if you wear or bring him an item that is red, he likes to look and feel on that object...which also means he wants to try and eat it.
So 6 months, wish I could report that we have a great sleeper but we don't, but game-plan is to work on it after August 22nd when Daddy has his board exams...last night we were fussy at 1am which was code for Matthew no longer wants to sleep alone in crib, wants to snuggle with Mommy. At 3am it was hungry time and diaper change and 5-630am Matthew could not keep still which meant Mommy was up but he was somewhat asleep...by 630 he is usually awake and ready for attention and play-time.
Church this morning wasn't too bad...he stayed awake the whole time. The first 20 minutes we were able to keep him in the car-seat but the next 20-30 minutes (basically the rest of the service) he wanted to be held and had to be taken to the foyer area where either Mom or Dad (b/c we took turns) could walk him around the room.
This update is getting long so that is what is up for us...6 months in many ways has flown by, although at 2, 3 or 4am it doesn't feel like we have a 6 month old...really wish he would sleep a bit longer...I realize that it is really my fault for enabling some bad sleep habits...but rest assure, we will work on that soon.

We just tried our first baby-food item last night, banana's...yep he didn't dig it but it did make the rice cereal which we have introduced a few weeks back to be more enjoyable...Our 6 month Well-baby visit is in 2 weeks and we will meet our new Dr. for Richmond VA. I am sure Matthew could care less but since we are no longer in Greenville, we had to say goodbye to Dr. Goff at ECU Peds.

Matthew is Crawling
Well, Matthew is officially mobile. He is not all that coordinated but he is getting movement by moving and shaking his little legs so we are officially saying he is a crawler...I posted a video on facebook so check it out and we will try to capture his "crawling" again over the next few days...hopefully he will start to make more neuro-connections and the coordination will kick in to make it a bit better.
Last night was a rough night...I got Jay to take him at 3 am and found out that Matthew wanted to play and crawl on daddy to about 4 am...so a rough night...but right now he is fed, just woke up from a nap and is as happy as can be. He is entertaining himself on the floor with a few toys around him and babbling a bit as well. So in addition to a crawling boy, we also seem to have a very vocal one as well. At times the sounds seem to be words like "hey" but for the most part it is just vocal grunting and screeching.
So I have started a food diary this week to try and shed these last few baby weight pounds...with the consistency of the gym, the riding my bike and running I thought the last few pounds would melt off a bit faster but now that I am keeping the food journal I have lost 3 lbs this week so now I am 11 lbs away from goal and not stuck at 14 lbs. In addition, I am slowly meeting people. This area appears to have quite a booming bike community but not organized so I am slowly finding folks to do 15-25 miles with which is so great and will also help me get these last few pounds off.
We are off to the grocery and other errands here in a bit, this is also Jay's last weekend to study, I am so ready for this exam to be over and done with so we can start planning more fun adventures over the weekend. On the bike ride today we ended up a little south of town and it gets really pretty out in the country.
ok, gotta go, the boy wants some attention!

a Productive day, but ugh to children's clothing sizes
We had a very productive day, I got 2 loads of laundry done, the dishes are washing as I type, and I got to Target to get some much needed items for feeding Matthew. My big project was to go through Matthew's clothes and to get the 3-6 month clothes and whatever 0-3 months stuff still lingering in the closet into boxes..and I pulled out all the 6-9 month clothes..here is where I got super frustrated...so Matthew is around 15lbs and 24-25inches long....he is really skinny so the 0-3 month pants and shorts are what he wears with his shirts...I have all sorts of cute 3-6 months pants but they are for the most part too big in the waist. As I am pulling out the 6-9 month stuff, I notice that Carter's has 6-9 months as 12.5-16lbs and 24-26.5 inches vs some other brands are 6-9 months are 16-20lbs and 27-29inches...come on...so most of the stuff that is Carter is basically going to only fit Matthew for about 1-2 lbs and 1-2inches more?? This totally frustrates me...but the silver lining is b/c he is skinny, maybe the pants//shirt separates I can get more use out of despite the weight/height...
Here is my 2 cents, these kids clothes need to get standardized...every brand should be the same in my opinion...make it easier for us tired moms.
otherwise a good day, Matthew's 2 bottom teeth are coming in nicely and we got tooth paste today to start the habit of good oral care.

Hump Day updates, Aug 10th
Matthew has the first tooth pushing through on the bottom left and the bottom right is almost here...so of course we are still struggling with mouth pain, but a cold wet wash rag, teething rings and cold pacifiers seems to be some help along with some gum gels. I tried to get a picture but it is not great as my finger is in the way and Matt is not loving me pulling on his bottom lip so maybe in another day or two when he is more agreeable to get his picture taken.
Last night was a great night...except for Queenie barking at Jay around 1145 and waking Matt up, we were able to get Matt to go back to sleep and he slept to around 350am...so basically 9pm to 4am is not too shabby...so hopefully this is the start to Matthew turning the corner and sleeping better...so hopefully a repeat performance tonight...now if only Queenie will not bark at Jay when he is getting ready for bed :0
We bought tickets for Labor Day...we are going to have a quick trip to LA so Matthew can see his Godmother, Grandparents and Great Grandma...it will be a quick flight down on Friday and back Monday but a must-do since the next time we will see everyone is Christmas.
Potential Good news on the call schedule for Jay..the 4 holidays and 5 weeks of call maybe wrong...we can only hope that it might change to one or 2 less weeks of call...that way we could potentially take advantage of a holiday to do some exploring of the local area...first on our list is Thomas Jefferson's home which is about 45 minutes away...and the mountains up here...but we need a good long weekend to really in my mind do a worth-while get-away.
ok...gotta go, Matthew is getting fussy and probably hungry.

I feel a tooth!
Well, it was a rough weekend but I think I feel the tooth finally pushing through on the bottom gum so hopefully it will finish popping through those gums and Matthew will no longer be changing from cute-adorable baby to monster crying baby...
Despite the sleeping/waking issues and the tooth/gum pains we did have a good weekend. I got to bike both Saturday and Sunday so feeling so much better about August 21st. Also got lots of chores done and feel caught up on the house-hold chores. alas, have to try and do it again sometime this week...the never ending cycle.
We are off to a day-care in a minute...going to check out the place in the event I need full-time or part-time daycare...3 days a week for 4-5hrs sounds so nice...and the transfer to a new on-line teaching software is such a pain...so many things to do, every time I turn around another checklist or thing to do and well, I seem to be very behind on getting my classes set-up with only 10-20 minutes to work...
ok, gotta run, speaking of 10-20 minutes to work...Matthew is calling.

Friday, August 5th
Was it really Monday since I last posted? Wow, the week wasn't that fast so what was I doing that kept me from updating this blog?? Oh yeah, Matthew is definitely teething and we had some rough nights...like up at midnight-2am, sometimes Matthew is screaming during this period and other times a happy camper just wanting attention so yeah I guess I slept during nap time which means I didn't then have time to blog. Sorry everyone, please forgive me.
Despite the morning wake-ups and the teething issues, it wasn't a terrible week. Although I did see a job posting at one of the community colleges so I applied for the job...not sure I will even get a call-back as the job has been posted for a while and chances are with the semester starting in a week or two they should have interviewed folks already but in the event they have not filled the position I guess I will keep my fingers crossed??? So because of that, I looked into day-care right down the road...they do a 3 day 4-5hr part-time plan...it is $100 dollars more per week than what we paid for full-time 5 days a week in Greenville....and the full-time is just to me crazy expensive but I guess you have to expect this...but the job positing was about 8-10,000 more potentially than what I made in Greenville so I guess it would all be relative...so going to take a tour Monday afternoon in the event I choose to enroll Matthew...must say the idea of 3 mornings a week to get on-line work done for my on-line classes sounds really nice...and still have the 2 hrs a day at the gym for the afternoon on those 3 days doesn't sound too terrible...so I am really considering this...does that make me a cop-out on the stay-at-home thing??? Oh well I guess...I just have to realize I can't be a stay at home person, I need work of some sort and Matthew while he is adorable is not the kid to let me have 2 hrs to work...right now in fact he is screaming so gotta go...
until next time....hopefully good news on the daycare and job potential...

Monday--ugh
Well, it was a good weekend. I got to bike ride with a group of ladies in a pre-race ride...it was awesome and felt so good to get back on my bike. We had a nice relaxing weekend. Matt got lots of time with his daddy and I got some much needed rest.
Monday...hmmm...we found queenie a vet b/c she needed her heart worm meds and I needed to get her an appt at the groomers...she is getting stinky...so she had a vet appointment where we had to give her a Vaccination b/c she didn't have one that is required for VA and now she is good to go...at 6...so in a few hours we take her to petsmart for a grooming session...of course Jay won't be home as he has orientation today so I am sure he will be stuck at work through 530-6pm so Matthew and I will have to take queenie and if Matthew is cooperative we will hit a few stores since it is near the mall and I need a few things...gotta go to Kohls to check on their frames...can't find a frame to match one i like and to use for our pictures we just took in Vegas...so hopefully Kohls will have a selection...also need to hit the Ulta store and maybe bed/bath for some bubble-bath/relaxing salts...something to help me unwind in the evenings.
Did a spin class this morning...it was cycle 30 so suppose to be 30 minutes...it was so boring...part of the problem is the instructor...he had no personality and didn't have much variety or fun things to do for the class...part the music...it was one of those ready-made bought spin cds...so the songs are remixed and recorded by fakers...not sure that I will do that class again...hopefully the Wednesday class will be better...it was recommended but this week there is a sub for the person that normally teaches...if it does suck...it just makes me more upset that I have not heard back from the gym to be an instructor. So hopefully this 3rd time is the charm. Luckily the yoga classes have been good.
Well, got to pay attention to the boy...he is doing great these days...or at least I am tolerating things better as I had some really good sleep this past weekend due to Jay's help.
