We got keys to our new apartment, we moved most of Jay's clothes and some kitchen stuff...yep tomorrow the movers load us up and so the goal today is to break down the crib and beds, finish boxing up anything that we can and put the stuff in my car that we want to move (i.e. computers and personal items)...I still can't believe we are finally moving tomorrow.
So today Matt has a follow-up appointment on his ears and we need to turn in the cable box. So really not a bad day.
Gotta go...just noticed the time and Matt's appointment is in 20 minutes....yikes!

Last saturday in G-vegas
So I don't know what is the deal but I basically have slept the whole afternoon away. yep, from 1230 to about 220 when Jay brought Matthew in for a diaper change then went back to sleep while Matthew took his afternoon nap from 245-4pm. Yeah, I am kinda worries I might end up all night and not because of Matthew but b/c I have slept too much today...
The good news is that at least Queenie also slept so if I am up she should probably be up with me :)
So I was musing about this move to VA. Some interesting facts, this will be the first time I live in a State Capital, yep, since I didn't go to LSU and live in Baton Rouge I have never lived in a State Capital. For my mother, I am leaving a "blue" state and moving to a "red" state where I have been informed I must register to vote for 2012 elections...First time I am going to live in a 3rd floor apartment without an elevator. First time moving with a dog and a baby...first time to move without the AF footing the bill.
So then I also thought, where will I stack in Favorite child...ok, side note, the running joke in my family is the favorite child is whoever lives furthest away. I recently lost the status when my brother moved to Las Vegas...
So G-vegas is 1096 miles from VP.
Las Vegas is 1573 miles
C-springs 1083 miles
Orlando 788 miles
So Richmond is (drum-role) 1151 miles away so no, I do not get to move up from my second favorite status...oh well, it was worth investigating.
Well I gotta go pay attention now to my little one before the Saturday afternoon is completely gone and it is time to go to our Running Group Party!

Packing up...ugh
Well, less than a week left in Greenville or as it is known by the ECU world G-vegas...So I got crazy this morning and packed all the cutting boards, oven stones and the waffle iron...basically all that is left is some pots and the bare minimum plates and bowls so Jay can eat cereal...I also packed up more of Matt's stuff and toys/books that he we are regularly using and my teaching paperwork b/c really I am not teaching on-line until Sept so i went ahead and pack up that stuff...all that is left in the kitched is the toaster, knives, about 8 bowls and 5 plates, and a few glasses...yep down to the skim pickens...so I am about to call and order pizza for dinner...
Really not much to report on today other than I have used all the boxes generously given to me a friend so we will have to use the luggage and whatever boxes Jay has stashed somewhere...but really there is not much left or at least there is not much left of Matt and My stuff :)
Movers are confirmed for 9am Wednesday morning...we need to break down the crib, kitchen table and beds by then, plus have all the drawers empty so the other furniture is ready to load up...I think it should be pretty quick to load up...It just can't rain next Wednesday.
We are so thrilled to have a cookout with our Greenville running Friends on Saturday...I'll take pictures and try to upload one or two.

Tried to spruce up the blog
I tried to add a slide show and well it didn't work but I now have a photobucket and flicker photo accounts...ugh. If anyone knows how to do the gadget for a slide show let me now. Otherwise I guess I will try to upload pictures to flicker...until I figure out keyword that links to my account...why can't these things just be simple?
I was so tired yesterday...I went to the gym and did the elliptical but got home, and basically pooped out on Hubby at 730pm...so poor Jay had to deal with Matt alone until I took over around 130pm...
Our struggles with sleeping through the night improved last night...Matt ate at 11ish and he woke up at 130 and 330 but was satisfied with his pacifier and of course sleeping with Mommy...I was just too tired to fight with him...but he ate at 4am and has taken a long nap this morning...so it is looking up...just have to again work on him not sleeping with me :)
Today I was able to get some yoga in, sleeping with Matt makes my back ache so I did some yoga for 30 minutes with some emphasis on Cat/Cow, Spinal Balance, forward bends and now I feel much better! Foot and Knee also appear better so hopefully the yoga and the stretching is helping!
ok, gotta go...but will try to figure out later the slide-show picture thing and if anyone has any insight, please let me know!

Hump Day, June 22nd
Well, I am doing 15-20 minutes of yoga for a second day in a row...but not sure if the yoga or the getting up and down off the floor with Matthew is the cause of my new Knee pain this am...still have the right foot plantar pain as well...so yep its officially I am falling apart. So of course I am icing, taking Motrin and resting, and I have suspended my running for a while...ugh...just wish things would heal quickly so I can get serious about getting in-shape...the past 2 nights I have gotten to eat out with friends and while that is awesome, I have gained back a few pounds so limiting my exercise and splurging on rich foods has taken its toll
Well, to update on Matthew and our sleeping through the night situation...yeah...Jay informed me he was feeding Matthew around 12-1am so when I was sleeping form 10pm-4am and thinking Matthew was doing the same I was sadly mis-informed...so the last 2 nights at 3-4am when Matthew is waking up and crying I am trying to give him the pacifier and let him try to go back to sleep on his own...yep it worked one night but no so much last night...so finally I gave in and did the bottle...August has got to get here soon and this board exam for Jay b/c we need to get on the same routine and program so we can work together to get Matthew through the night. I am afraid we are conditioning him to get food to readily and easily at night and will be in for a horrendous few weeks in August when we can hopefully get him better trained to cry it out and sooth himself without getting food right away...hopefully the introduction of cereals and other foods which will also start in August will help keep him fuller and help us in our quest for a full nights sleep.
ok, he just had a blow-out so I gotta go. Last week in Greenville...can't believe it has been 6 yrs here and next week is it...this weekend is major packing and getting ready for the move...so exciting!! If only we could get a buyer for the duplex...I dare someone to make an offer, I am so ready to get rid of this place that I will accept almost anything!

Baptism and Father's Day
Well my day has been very busy, we took the RAV in to have this leak addressed and well the service I had done 3 weeks ago was the issue, they overfilled some fluids and my "leak" was really the fluid building up pressure and then the valve releasing it on my driveway each time I stopped...so this ugly spot on my driveway could have been avoided had the mechanics not overfilled my fluids...so frustrating...but while I was waiting on my car, I have successfully gotten the cable canceled and the setup of our electric/power at our new place...in addition they set up potentially direct TV installation and packages, I think I am getting a good deal but we have to opt-out of our corporate service the apartment complex provides to do this...so yep, have it on my calendar, to make sure if we stick with the apartment complex I need to call and cancel the direct TV but otherwise I am set-up to go...all the while I am doing this, I am on the phone with this guy Fernando, Matt starts to get tired b/c it is time for his morning nap and he of course has just been changed b/c the antibiotics are causing him to have bowel movements but of course he pee's all over me...so here I am on the phone, holding a fussy tired baby who is wet and pee'd all over me...so it has been a busy and productive morning. Now while he naps I write this and hopefully he takes a long nap so I can get some lunch and catch up on the laundry.
So more pictures are posted in the June 2011 folder on my facebook profile. This week is back to hopefully our routine and this weekend we have to get serious with the packing. Time to eat so until tomorrow.

Saturday June 18th
Well, we made it through graduation dinner with Matthew in tow and he did fairly well. It was super hot and he was miserably hot like the rest of us so of course that probably made him cranky and then it was night-time so he gets cranky near bed time anyway but it was nice to see hubby get his certificate signifying that he completed residency and was fun to see everyone that we have grown close to over the last 4 yrs. Then night happened...ugh...Matthew did not want to go back to sleep at 330 when he woke up, he just would not go back to sleep. Hubby was trying all the old tricks of the dryer, rocking etc...yeah Matt just would not go back to sleep and then I just put him next to me in the bed and sure enough he was out...but once 6 am rolled around it was tough to get up and head out for the run...I did make it eventually but only make 2.25 miles. I am so glad I did make it b/c I got to catch up after the run with all my Greenville Running group friends.
So the rest of today is relax and enjoy the family visit...although Matt and I are hanging at home right now while the Granier's head out for errands and to the Mall...I just finish grading course work so it was nice to get that chore accomplished.
Tomorrow is Hubby's first father's day and Matt's baptism...so pictures to come!

Arrival of the Granier's
Well, yesterday was a good day. I got in some yoga in the morning and it felt really good. My right foot is "tight" in the morning, almost like the beginning of plantar fasciitis so doing some down dogs and the sun salutations felt really good. It also helped to stretch my calves, quads and hamstrings...so of course today I was planning to get some yoga in again but my father-in-law arrived slightly earlier than I expected so I guess I can try to get it in later today after we take our trip ot the airport to pick up Aunt Paige.
As for our trip to the airport, Southwest airlines has MXS issues with the plane to Aunt Paige is delayed...so we are sitting at home waiting an extra hour before we get on the road to pick her up. Hopefully this will be just an hour delay...in the mean time Grandpa Joe is walking Matthew around the house and taking time to interact in front of the mirror with him...I will get a video soon of Matt in front of a mirror, it is just adorable, he cracks the biggest smile and makes noises at the reflection.
Well, Matt is getting fussy and while Grandpa Joe is being a trooper and trying to sooth and entertain, I think it is time to rescue him and see if I can figure out what is going on.
Until tomorrow or Saturday depending on how things go!

Officially 4 months today!
Well, we had our 4 month appointment today and Matt is right on the 50th percentile for height and weight and just below for head size...so that is great news...only downer is that it appears that ear infection from a few weeks ago hasn't really cleared and so we are back on Antibiotics today for the next 2 weeks to hopefully get the fluid and crud to go away. I am sure it didn't help that we just went to Louisiana and endured some barotrauma from the flights and all the germs of people as we were trapped in tiny airplanes but hopefully this round of drugs will knock it out of the system and we can then progress onward.
So I didn't get to work out as I got sucked into watching Bravo and the Real Housewives of OC crap...those ladies are so catty...OMG it was painful to watch and yet I couldn't stop or look away...I can't believe I wasted 3 hrs today with that on in the background.
So tomorrow maybe my last class I get to teach at VQ, I am kinda sad but in some ways I think this year away might also be a good opportunity to take a break from teaching for a while. It might free me up to enjoy new activities...so in some ways, unless I find a really great gym that I want to teach, I may just not teach for a while and take the time completely off....
ok, I have to get some on-line course stuff done, I have to get this courses I am suppose to teach set up and ready for August. It is amazing how fast the day flies by and how little I get done during Matt's 30-45min naps...so I am signing off tonight with that...I will be posting 4 month pictures soon with the 4 sticker on Matt's belly. I guess I need to fit uploading and tagging pictures to my to-do list tomorrow. It is crazy how I don't have a job but I feel so busy with just lots of little things to accomplish and never any time to accomplish those chores....at least I got to the post office today to get our Lease in the mail and my COBRA insurance stuff submitted...to bad the COBRA won't re-imburse me for the 70 dollars for Matt's drugs...don't get me started on the health care crap...it is just amazine that I have to pay 660 dollars for the next 2 months to keep coverage...when probably going to the doctor wouldn't cost that much but I have to have this insurance just in case something horrible does happen...ugh...makes me wish for the military days where health care was provided and you didn't have to worry about this crap...ok, I am off my soap box. Maybe by the 28th and Matt's next appointment we will have the paperwork caught up with our coverage and this won't be an issue.

Monday June 13th
Well, I have tried to post this once already and for some reason I have run into problems...so here I go again.
Matthew is adjusting back into our routine...he was up at 1am and 5am...but today so far he is doing great, he is taking long naps so I am getting some work done. I am cleaning house in preparation for company arriving on Thursday. I have dusting, more vacuuming and bathrooms to clean. Ugh...I miss my little Japanese lady who use to clean our house...
Today is one of my last days to teach cycling at VQ. It is sad b/c I have met so many great people through my cycling and yoga classes and I can't believe I will be moving on in a few short weeks...which reminds me I have been calling and canceling and setting up all the move stuff...
Well, I hear my little one waking up, gotta go, but really today was a quiet day, tomorrow is going to be 4 months and a doctor's appointment for Matt.

Back in NC
Well, we survived our trip home...wow it was hot down there! It was great to see family and friends, I hope to maybe make it down there again in Sept/Oct so more to come maybe after the move and the Vegas trip next month
Well, how did the flights back go? Matt did great on both. He slept the 2nd flight from Memphis to RDU which was great since it was the longer of the 2 flights and he cracked a huge smile when he saw his Dad at the airport!
Now that we are home, it is back to the usually routine, he is not sleeping through the night, but did stay up to about 920ish...he just woke up at 1 and again at 3 to eat...so hopefully this will iron itself out in the next few weeks and we can get back to 10pm-5am sleep-schedule which was looking good while at the Fontenot residence.
Queenie as so excited to see me...she of course is following me around and even licking Matt on the leg here and there...just so excited to see us home and available to give her some attention.
I am finally catching up with my on-line extended students and hope all of them get their stuff in by the 25th of June which is near their deadline so I can grade and be done with them before our move and loss of Internet...I also need to get on setting up the new classroom for my new Exercise phys course I start this fall and my Anatomy and Phys course in this new virtual classroom software...so much to do...
I got to the gym today and church so this Sunday is so far looking quite productive...Matt of course had a huge blow-out at church and b/c we were in a hurry to make it on-time I forgot to get a new outfit in the diaper bag so Matt spent most of Church wrapped in a blanket with a diaper...yep, I was that parent...hey, at least we were at church...
Next week is Matt's Baptism and well, these 3-6month clothes are getting to be (some not all) kinda tight so thank goodness we are finally getting to the Baptism so his outfit we bought will still fit. I will get pictures posted to Facebook next week on that.
So I did weigh myself this morning and I am holding strong at 163lbs...so no gains despite the less activity and the rich good foods I indulged upon while in Louisiana...I teach my last 2 cycling classes this week at VQ in NC so hopefully with that and getting some runs in this week I can maybe get to that 160lb mark by end of the week...then it is just the last 10lbs to go...which I know are the hardest to get off...but at 4 months I am so thankful to have lost so much of the weight and to be back in my size 10 clothes...
Ok, this post is getting long, until tomorrow which hopefully will be a better night of sleep!

Heading to Baton Rouge Today
Well, the hope that we are sleeping through the night is over...Matt made it to 3am but was up and hungry...so he made it 2 days through the night but we are back to "almost"
I am writing early today since we head to Baton Rouge and I need to get to the store to pick up Dad's father's day gift card...so a very busy morning, but I did despite the huge gash in my little toe from last night get a 2.5 mile run...ugh it is hot and it was all I could do to make that 2.5 miles...gosh I hate summer running. At least there are not hills around here which won't be the case in Richmond...yep, VP is a lot like Greenville NC, totally lacks in elevation changes.
So hopefully 2 uneventful travel days are ahead of us. It has been so great to introduce Matthew to all his VP relations and see many old friends...Maybe I will plan to come back this fall (once the heat subsides) for another visit...otherwise, Christmas will have to do. It was also great to indulge in some great Cajun Cooking...I had some Boudin last night and wow, makes me realize how bland my food is...it was spicy but so good. Lunch today is a crawfish stuffed chicken (Hmmmm)...too bad I am not driving back to NC so I could take an ice-chest full of food...definitely at Christmas going to have to load up on good stuff.
Gotta go get packed..going to have to put a bag together for Grandpa Joe to bring up next week b/c we got some great goodies from folks and well, I just don't have room in my suitcase.
hope everyone has a Happy Friday!!

June 9th
Well, some milestones have been hit in the last few days, Matt is turning over and wanting to sleep on his belly and he is sleeping for 2 nights now from 930pm-5am....YEAH! Hopefully this will continue as we travel back to NC in a few days.
What a busy 2 days, we have visited with Granny Winnie and today got to visit with lots of Fontenot Cousins and relatives...plus a few Ville Platte friends...Matt was very good and allowed all his Aunts to hold and enjoy him
Now we are off to Granny Winnie's to spend to enjoy some more quality time.

Sad Day in Ville Platte
Well, there was a tragic event today in Ville Platte with a shooting at a local business....we however enjoyed the day spending lots of time with Grandma Winnie and my parents...Matt is getting a lot of attention which is great but tonight he had a major cryfest...so it has to be he is over-stimulated and exhausted or this new hot environment that has disrupted our routine...i don't know...but for an hour tonight I was trying to sooth a very unhappy crying baby.
So tomorrow hopefully things get better and tonight with getting him down finally to sleep at 9pm I hope he does make it through the night...he can really use a good night sleep...just wish it was cooler...like usual Mom and Dad's house is hot and the A/C appears to be on the fritz...if I win the lottery, which means I probably need to get tickets for the powerball tomorrow night, first major purchase needs to be A/C's for this house...I think these units here are the original and this house is what 30 yrs old??? did I meantion it is hot???
As for running...I was able to get 30 minutes and 3 miles in this morning before the heat. It was such a sluggish run, but at least I was out there exercising. It is so easy to do nothing in VP, especially since there is no gym available for me to lift or use cardio equipment. My goal tomorrow will be to do some yoga and walking.
Well, gotta get to my night-time routine so I can get some sleep. Here is to hoping for an uneventful and full nights sleep!

Arrived in Louisiana
OMG, what a trip. The first plane from RDU to Atlanta was packed. We were suppose to be in a middle seat but a really nice lady gave up her Aisle seat to Matt and me and he did great. He got fussy on the descent but that was to be expected since he does have a cold. The second flight I asked if there were empty seats and if so could I bring the car seat on...the girl told me no, but of course we board and yep there are 3 empty seats so she could have worked some magic for us but didn't...so we made it through that flight with a big blowout half way...yep that was a fun diaper change in this tiny little airplane bathroom...luckily it wasn't so bad that that I had to do a wardrobe change as well. I was so glad to get off that flight and wow, it is hot here in Louisiana...So after a long day of 1 very poopy diaper midflight and 2 flights and an adventure in Atlanta airport we made it...we only lost our favorite little toy in the process...I think it fell out of my bag in the Baton Rouge airport...oh well, only 1 thing unaccounted for is a huge success.
It was great to see Grandpa Joe. Matt was very fussy last night but like a champ Grandpa rocked and fed and tried to comfort the grouchy, tired little man...eventually we got to sleep around 9pm and only had 1 wakeup at 1am to feed...then right back to sleep until 5am...which wasn't bad considering that is really 6am our time and he took a few ounces and fell asleep for another hour before it was up for good time.
We had lots of fun playing at Grandpa's house and even took a walk in the neighborhood this morning before the heat hit...now we are in big VP...we got to see Granny Winnie and boy did we flirt and laugh with her...but nap time is finally here and Granny Julia is asleep on the couch and Matt in the brand-new pack-n-play. While they are sleeping, I am trying to get some work done on-line to include updating the blog...
hopefully tomorrow I will have some energy to get back to running...it is really hot so I guess I better plan on going first thing in the morning. After the hamburger, and fried foods all day yesterday I need to get back into my workout routine so I don't start putting back on the weight. Although I get my Grandma's smothered roundsteak tonight so i guess I have to put off healthier eating 1 more meal...
So I will try to get some picks and video's up on my facebook page later in the week. We have had lots of Kodiac moments with meeting new grandparents and great-grandparents.

Traveling to Louisiana
Well, I am 3 days in and I already missed a day posting...what can I say, I got caught up in the French Open Women's final and I have a return of my cold...Looks like Matthew and I are passing this cold back and forth. I just hope today on the plane ride to Louisiana neither of us have issues clearning our ears on descent. I really hope he doesn't have issue b/c that is going to be miserable sitting probably in a middle seat, holding a baby and having him crying/screaming. The joys of traveling right??
So Hubby had a rough night with Matthew, he was up most of the night so I am really hoping he sleeps on the planes and our travel is uneventful. I guess I should have lots to write about tomorrow
Well, I gotta get finished with packing and everything. I guess until tomorrow!

Day 1
Well, its Friday, that use to mean a lot more fun and excitement, now it means tomorrow Hubby will be around to help me through the day and I can probably get along workout in...our agenda today is to get things together for our trip to Louisiana on Sunday...almost packed...it is amazing how much crap we have to bring.
I was able to get a run in this morning, I took it easy an only ran 2 miles so hopefully I will have some energy to hit the gym later tonight to get a lift and maybe a short bike ride on the spin bike.
As for Matt, he is doing great, we got up at 2am for his night-time feeding but he made it to 7am this morning before he woke up and gave us the hunger cues...now he is just talking away, too bad i can't embed a video (only b/c I don't have one to embed...I will get one eventually to add) of him babbling away. Yes, it is when he is most talkative I get it, he is definitely my child. Our goal today is to continue to establish a daily routine. I have been reading that a 3-4 month old should be taking about 3 naps, a morning, afternoon and late afternoon nap...so the last few days have been to figure out if Matt does this and if so about when does he get tired and want to nap. So after 2 days it appears Matt likes to eat, play and about 1.5-2 hrs of awake time he starts to get grouchy and tired so our pre-nap routine is to turn off all the lights and put on soothing music and rock...it appears to be working except for that late afternoon nap...
so this saga is to be continued.
Well we are going to try and watch some French open Tennis and play with Queenie and toys...have a great Friday everyone!

Hi Everyone, I wanted to spend this first entry as an introduction. I am a 33yr old female with 1 son born 2/14/2011 and 1 dog, Beauty Queen (Queenie). I am married to my wonderful husband who is moving me to Richmond VA this June so he can do a 1 yr fellowship in Traumatic Brian Injury at the VA hospital. So I am going to stay at home with my son and hope to record the year in this blog as a chance to vent, record and just muse my thoughts...in some ways this idea of staying at home freaks me out but I hope for an enjoyable year.
so some goals for this year:
1. Enjoy every minute of raising my son Matthew
2. Continue to teach some on-line classes to keep my finger in some type of job
3. Work on my yogafit RYT 200 hrs
4. Get back into shape for maybe a 1/2 marathon in Richmond in November
So that is hopefully what you can expect to read about...this will be my journal, my running log, my workout log.
Hope you enjoy!
